Tammsweld from Tremco CPG (originally developed by The Euclid Chemical Company) is a high film-build, rewettable liquid bonding agent and polymer modifier for concrete and cement mortars. It is an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer emulsion that dramatically increases the bond strength and durability of toppings, patches and mortars over prepared concrete and many other substrates.

Its standout feature is its rewettable characteristic - Tammsweld dries to a film in approximately one hour yet remains an active bonding layer, giving crews a long open time and flexibility between priming and placement of the topping, mortar or repair material. Compliant with ASTM C1059 Type I.

Coverage

4.75 to 6.0 m²/kg on dense surfaces. Porous substrates may require more material. Do not exceed 7.0 m²/kg.

Packaging & Shelf Life

Supplied in 20 kg HDPE pails and 210 kg HDPE drums. Shelf life is 12 months in unopened original containers. Store between 10 °C and 32 °C - do not allow to freeze.

How to Use (Brief)

1. Surface preparation: Substrate must be clean, dry and structurally sound. Remove all curing compounds, form release agents and contaminants. Mechanical abrasion is the preferred prep method. For oil-contaminated surfaces, steam-clean with a strong emulsifying detergent and rinse thoroughly with potable water. Allow concrete to dry before applying Tammsweld.
2. As a bonding agent: Stir thoroughly before use. Do not dilute. Apply by brush or roller (pre-wet and shake out excess water), or by airless spray with 0.38–0.51 mm tips - hold the gun 30–46 cm from the substrate and use a cross-coat technique (horizontal pass followed by vertical pass). Highly porous surfaces may require two coats. Allow to dry (~1 hr) before placing the repair mortar, topping or concrete. Re-test adhesion if more than 7 days pass between priming and topping.
3. As a polymer modifier: Add approximately 11.0 kg of Tammsweld per 45.4 kg of cement in the mortar. Evaluate the properties of the modified mix before production use, as they vary with mortar composition.
4. Do not apply below 10 °C, to frozen or frost-filled surfaces. Do not over-trowel mortars modified with Tammsweld.
5. Not for use in constantly wet, immersed or hydrostatic conditions (swimming pools, cisterns, tanks).
6. Clean tools with detergent and water while wet - dried Tammsweld requires mechanical abrasion to remove.
