BS MoistureZero

Acrylic Polymer Waterproofing Modifier for Cementitious Slurry Coatings

BS MoistureZero is a high-performance acrylic polymer modifier used with cement to create a flexible cementitious waterproofing coating.

When mixed with ordinary Portland cement, the polymer forms a polymer-modified cement slurry that adheres strongly to concrete and masonry surfaces. The resulting coating develops a flexible waterproof membrane capable of sealing micro pores and bridging hairline cracks.

This system improves the natural properties of cement by increasing adhesion, durability, crack resistance, and water impermeability, making it suitable for waterproofing exposed concrete surfaces.

BS MoistureZero works as a polymer component of a two-part waterproofing system, where the user adds cement on-site to prepare the coating slurry.

Key Features

• Acrylic polymer waterproofing modifier
• Forms flexible polymer-cement waterproof coating
• Bridges hairline cracks in concrete
• Excellent adhesion to cement surfaces
• Protects against moisture ingress and seepage
• Suitable for horizontal and vertical surfaces
• Durable waterproof barrier for terraces and wet areas

Typical Applications

BS MoistureZero is widely used for waterproofing of:

Terrace slabs and roof concrete
Bathrooms and sunken areas
Balconies and exposed slabs
Water tanks, fountains and water bodies
Concrete repair and protective coatings

Polymer-modified cement coatings are commonly used for residential terraces, basements and concrete protection because they combine cement strength with polymer flexibility.

System Composition

BS MoistureZero is supplied as polymer liquid only.

At site it must be mixed with ordinary Portland cement to prepare the waterproof slurry.

Typical Mix Ratio

1 Part BS MoistureZero: 1.5 Part Cement

Mix thoroughly to obtain a smooth, brushable slurry coating.

Application Method

Surface Preparation

Surface must be clean, sound, and slightly damp before coating.

First Coat

Apply slurry using a brush or roller.

Reinforcement Layer (Recommended)

For critical waterproofing areas, embed fiberglass mesh or fabric in the wet slurry.

Additional Coats

Apply second and third coats perpendicular to the previous coat.

Coverage

Coverage depends on surface texture and application thickness.

System Approximate Coverage
2 Coat Waterproof Coating 1 kg covers approx 15–20 sq ft
3 Coat System with Fiber Reinforcement 1 kg covers approx 8–12 sq ft

Advantages Over Plain Cement Coating

Property Plain Cement Slurry Polymer Modified Slurry
Adhesion Moderate High
Crack Resistance Low Improved
Flexibility Brittle Flexible
Waterproofing Limited Excellent

The polymer significantly improves adhesion, impact resistance, and durability of cement coatings compared with plain cement systems.

Suitable For

• Waterproofing contractors
• Builders and civil engineers
• Terrace waterproofing works
• Bathroom waterproofing systems
• Concrete repair protection coatings

Important Note

Cement must be added by the user at site to prepare the waterproof slurry coating.

Site Mixing & Application Guide

How BS MoistureZero is Used at Construction Sites

BS MoistureZero is used by mixing it with ordinary cement at site to create a polymer-modified waterproof slurry coating.

This coating is then applied with a brush in multiple coats to form a waterproof membrane.

Materials Required

To prepare the waterproof coating you will need:

BS MoistureZero Polymer Liquid
Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC / PPC)
Clean water (if needed for adjustment)
Brush or roller for application
Fiberglass mesh (for reinforcement in critical areas)

Standard Mixing Ratio

Component Quantity
BS MoistureZero 1 Part
Cement 1 Part

Example:

1 kg BS MoistureZero + 1 kg cement = waterproof slurry

Mix thoroughly until a smooth lump-free slurry is obtained.

Step-by-Step Application

1. Surface Preparation

• Surface must be clean, dust-free, and structurally sound
• Remove loose particles, laitance and oil
• Wet the surface lightly before application

Concrete should be damp but not waterlogged.

2. First Coat

Prepare slurry using the following:

1 part MoistureZero + 1.5 part cement

Apply using a brush or roller.

Ensure complete coverage of the surface.

Allow 3–4 hours drying time before the next coat.

3. Reinforcement Layer (Recommended)

For critical waterproofing areas such as terraces and bathrooms:

• Place glass-fiber mesh on the wet first coat
• Press gently so the mesh becomes embedded in slurry

This improves crack resistance.

4. Second Coat

Apply a second coat, perpendicular to the first coat.

This ensures uniform waterproof coverage.

5. Third Coat (Optional but Recommended)

For terraces and water bodies, apply a third coat to increase membrane thickness.

Coverage Guide

Coverage varies depending on surface texture.

System Approximate Coverage
2 Coat System 1 kg covers approx 15–20 sq ft
3 Coat System with Fiber Mesh 1 kg covers approx 8–12 sq ft

Typical Areas Where MoistureZero is Used

• Terrace waterproofing
• Bathroom and toilet sunken slabs
• Balconies
• Water tanks and fountains
• Concrete surfaces exposed to rain

Site Mistakes to Avoid

Do not apply it on dry concrete.
The surface must be slightly damp.

Do not add excessive water in the slurry.
This reduces waterproofing performance.

Always apply a minimum of two coats.
A single coat is not sufficient for waterproofing.

Allow proper curing.
Protect the coating from rain or water exposure for 24 hours after application.
